Living off Kwik Save Vouchers and left to fend for herself –life skills were learnt quickly –with resilience and determination. Despite leaving school without qualifications, Sue pursued higher education with relentless determination, earning her law degree against all odds.
She then rose to become one of the country's highest-paid family lawyers, establishing multiple successful businesses along the way.
Determined to find work – she got on her bike and knocked on doors in Southport to find someone that would take on a 14 year old girl. Eventually a door was open by Mrs Smyth the owner of a Care Home – who gave her a job to supplement her Kwik Save Vouchers but most importantly Mrs Smyth taught her “That there was always more room at the table” and welcomed her into her heart and home.
Sue then won a place at Bar School London and to be able to support herself and the cost of living in London she simultaneously managed to secure a job as one of the of the only women on Lehman Brothers Trading Floor.
